Cake Balls

Just like cake pops, but where are the sticks?!

Cake balls (or pops) are cute, bite-sized treats fit for any occasion! They're fun to decorate, too!

Before I left for school, I made two kinds of cake balls for my family: devils food cake with cream cheese frosting for my brother, and funfetti for my sister. Let's just say that these can be very dangerous because: 1. they're cute, 2. they're fun to eat, 3. they're addicting. They're also fun to make!

Enjoy! :)

Cake Balls

Ingredients

1 box cake mix (of choice) + ingredients that the cake calls for

1/2 can frosting (of choice)

Candy melts (or melting chocolate) (of choice)

Sprinkles (or whatever you want to decorate with)

Directions

Bake cake as directed on box.

Once baked and cooled, cut around outer edges of cake, and cut cake into quarters.

Remove top layer of cake and crumble cake into a large bowl.

Once the entire cake is crumbled, mix 1/2 a can of frosting with the cake.

Mix until combined, then form into desired shape; place on baking sheet lined with tin foil.

Refrigerate cake pops for at least 2 hours to make sure cake balls stick together.

The next day, melt chocolate over stove in a double broiler (or microwave).

Dip cake balls into chocolate (be careful not to lose the cake in the chocolate! I use two forks to help me)

Sprinkle/decorate as desired, then place on baking sheet to cool. (refrigerate to speed up process if desired)
