Molasses Crinkles
These cookies smell like Christmas: ginger, nutmeg, all spice, cloves, cinnamon... mmmm.
They're extra yummy with coffee. Just saying.
More coming your way! Enjoy! :)
Molasses Crinkles
Ingredients
¾ cup shortening
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
¼ cup molasses
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
¼ tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
½ tsp. ground nutmeg
¼ tsp. ground cloves
¼ tsp. ground all spice
1 cup sparkling sugar (I only had gold and silver, so I used it!)
Directions
Preheat oven to 375F.
Beat shortening until light and fluffy.
Add granulated sugar, beat well, then add egg and molasses.
Combine flour, spices, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
Slowly, add flour mixture to shortening until completely blended.
*At this step, you can refrigerate the dough for an hr, or if you're like me, you can just put them straight in the oven.
Shape dough into 1-in balls, and roll in sparkling sugar.
Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for about 10 minutes. Tops should crack (hence crinkle cookies).
Transfer to cooling rack for complete cooling, and enjoy!
