What a Hoot!
Just look at these cuties.
Yesterday was the best thursday. It was sunny, I didn't have lab lecture (like usual), and I got to bake with my littleee!!!
It really was the best.
If you can't tell, these little guys are owls, and not only do they look adorable, but they taste great too!
My little asked me to help make these cupcakes with her for her roommate's birthday, and I was so excited! They're actually really simple, and turned out so cute! I just can't get over them.
Take your typical cupcake and add two halved Oreos for the eyes, two junior mints for the eyeballs, a broken halved Oreo for the eyebrows/wings/whatever you want to call them, and an M&M for the nose!
After much halving of Oreos, however, we learned that it's so much easier to half Double Stuffed Oreos compared to regular ones. Keep that in mind ;)
Here's the recipe! And TGIF! Happy Earth Day!
Owl Cupcakes
Ingredients
1 box chocolate cake mix + ingredients called for on box
1 can chocolate frosting
1 package Double Stuffed Oreos
M&Ms (or the little bananas from Runts candy!)
Junior Mints
Directions
Preheat oven according to cake mix directions, and bake cupcakes as directed on box.
Allow to cool, then frost cupcakes.
Half Double Stuffed Oreos, making sure that one side has the icing, and the other is just the cookie (this can be tricky, so be patient!)
Place two halved Oreos (icing side) on frosted cupcake; Add two junior mints on top to make eyes.
Add an M&M for the nose; break a halved Oreo (side without icing) in half, and situate above eyes.
And have fun! These cupcakes will crack you up. Not kidding. Just look at these guys!
