Idle Hand Bars
Officially HOME!
It's great. Goodbye Clark stacks, I no longer need to spend my days in your secluded cubbies, attempting to study for my exams. You've been great, but... sorry to say, I'm over you.
Hello home!!! Christmas lights, decorations, christmas trees, cookies, 97.1, red & green, and SNOW!
SO much better :)
And so the baking begins...
...with these!
They're called Idle Hand Bars... but I'm really not sure why?
Basically they taste like a Reese's cup mixed with pretzels. The perfect sweet & salty combination :). They're really rich, so I suggest cutting them into small pieces, but they are so delicious!!
Happy Baking!
Idle Hand Bars
Ingredients
Base Layer
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup sugar
5 tbsp. cocoa
1 egg, beaten
1 1/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
3/4 cup coarsely crushed pretzels
Middle Layer
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
2/3 cup powdered sugar
1 cup smooth Peanut Butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Top Layer
About 1 cup chocolate chips
Coarsely ground sea salt
Directions
Melt first three ingredients of base layer in a double broiler.
While still over heat, add egg and beat to combine (will thicken here).
Remove from heat and add crumbs and pretzel pieces.
Press into a slightly greased 8x8 pan; set aside.
In a small bowl, add peanut butter and butter together.
Mix in powdered sugar, salt and vanilla.
Pour on top of base layer, making a smooth even middle layer.
Melt chocolate chips over a double broiler.
Spread evenly over middle layer.
Refrigerate for about 5 minutes, sprinkle with coarse sea salt, then return to fridge and allow bars to completely harden (about two hours).
Once hardened, cut into bars and enjoy!
