Looking for something rich, chocolatey, and gooey?

Hellooo Caramel Fudge Brownies

My brother absolutely loves brownies, and since I'm home for spring break, why not make some? :)

Now I'm not much of a brownie fan, myself, but I figured caramel brownies would be prettyyy tastyy. So, I gave it a try, and I'm not going to lie, I definitely had to have one after I saw what they looked like... or two.

This recipe is a little complicated/time-consuming, but it's worth it!

Melting the caramels took some time, but it's important to melt them slowly, otherwise they would burn (if at a higher temp.)

The recipe I used was adapted/thrown together from a couple different recipes... so by the time it was time to put the brownies in the oven, I was on my own... sin receta.

Here it is!

Caramel Fudge Brownies.

Ingredients

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

3/4 cup baking cocoa

1/4 tsp. salt

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, cut in pieces

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

2 large eggs

2 tsp. vanilla extract

1/3 cup semisweet morsels, divided

~24 caramels, unwrapped

3 tbsp. milk

Directions

Preheat oven to 375F and grease 8x8 baking sheet.

Combine, flour, cocoa and salt in small bowl; set aside.

Beat butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar in large mixing bowl until creamy.

Add 2 eggs, one at a time; add vanilla extract; gradually beat in flour mixture.

Pour/spread half of batter in bottom of pan; bake for 15 minutes.

While baking, melt caramels and milk in saucepan over low heat.

After 15 minutes, pour melted caramels over brownie, and sprinkle 1/2 or semisweet morsels. Add remaining brownie batter and sprinkle remaining semisweet morsels on top.

Bake for a final 12 minutes.
